MediaTek plans to soon unveil its Dimensity 9300 chipset. Digital Chat Station, a known leak source, says the new chipset will have four Cortex-X4 and four Cortex-A720 cores. Unlike other chipsets, it won’t have any low-power A520 cores. New data hints that it could run 10% faster than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The expected setup for the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 includes one 3.25 GHz Cortex-X4 core, three 2.85 GHz Cortex-X4 cores, and four 2.0 GHz Cortex-A720 cores. It will likely pair with an Immortalis-G720 GPU. On the other hand, Snapdragon uses a different setup: one 3.19 GHz Cortex-X4 core, five 2.96 GHz Cortex-A720 cores, and two 2.27 GHz Cortex-A520 cores.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC uses a unique core mix. But Mediatek is also breaking the mold by leaving out low-power cores for the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset. How this will affect real-world use, especially potential heat issues, is still unknown.
