iPhone 15 Series Design and Build

The iPhone 15 Pro models, available in 6.1 and 6.7-inch sizes, retain a design reminiscent of the iPhone 14 Pro models. However, Apple has introduced a frame made out of a new titanium alloy, which is also used for spacecraft. This titanium construction is available in new colors: white, black natural, and blue. This choice of material means the iPhone 15 Pro models are lighter than their predecessors. The titanium boasts a matte, brushed texture, complemented by an aluminum internal frame that enhances thermal dissipation and the repairability of the back glass. Apple has also refined the design to feature more contoured edges and much thinner display bezels.

Display

Apple continues to use the Super Retina XDR Display, now equipped with Always-On display technology and a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate. The iPhone 15 Pro Max offers a resolution of 2796×1290, while the iPhone 15 Pro comes in at 2556×1179. The display also houses the Dynamic Island at the top.

Connectivity

A significant change in the Apple iPhone 15 Pro models is the shift from a Lightning port to a USB-C port, providing USB 3 transfer speeds up to 10Gb/s. This change means users can employ the same cable for charging their iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Additionally, the iPhone can directly charge AirPods or an Apple Watch. Apple continues to support 15W MagSafe charging and has introduced Qi2 wireless charging.

Action Button

Camera

The camera system has received notable upgrades. The main camera now boasts a 48-megapixel sensor, offering improved low-light performance. There’s an option to capture images at different focal lengths, including 24mm, 28mm, and 35mm. Portrait photos have been enhanced, with automatic capture when a person or pet is detected. Night mode and Smart HDR 5 further improve photo quality. The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max features an upgraded 5x Telephoto lens with a new tetraprism design.

Performance

Powering these devices is the A17 Pro chip, Apple’s first 3-nanometer chip. It promises GPU performance up to 20% faster than the A16 and CPU performance that’s 10% faster.
