The latest AnTuTu score is out, and the most powerful Android phone, with others in the top ten, can be declared. As the monthly rankings by famous developers come to light, a fierce battle is predicted between the flagships. Most gaming phones and the best camera phone, Xiaomi 12S Ultra, feature a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Also, the top ten list for budget and mid-range Android phones is out. The most noticeable change for the August 2022 rankings is that the Asus ROG Phone 6 hits the top spot, while only one Vivo X80 phone with Dimensity 9000 SoC is at the sixth spot.
Most Powerful Android Phone Top 10 List
According to the average scores of the AnTuTu benchmark, Asus ROG Phone 6 leads by a 1110172 AnTuTu score. The respective score is for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage running on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU. Thus, it earns the title of the most powerful Android phone. The second spot is for the 1081222 points score of iQOO 9T. Third on the list is one of the world’s most powerful gaming phones, the RedMagic 7 with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, running on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Mi 12S Ultra (best camera phone), Black Shark 5 Pro, Vivo X80, Motorola Edge 30 Pro, Vivo X80 Pro, Galaxy Z Fold4, and Mi 12 Pro are down the list.

1. ROG Phone 6
Average Score: 1,110,172
The Republic Of Gamers segment from Asus always comes up with the most powerful gaming phone yearly. The ROG series has dominated the AnTuTu score, but the market response is average. The trend is towards the best camera phone with flagship specs. Mid-range phones can also run heavy games like Genshin Impact with low graphics settings, so people prefer budget phones over gaming mobiles. Therefore, Asus has lowered the price of ROG 6 with a starting price of only US$689 for the 12GB/128GB.
The phone offers the world’s best 6.78-inch Samsung E4 OLED E-Sports display with a whopping 165Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, 6000mAh battery, and a 65W charger. Other flagship specs include WIFI-6, NFC, 6 multi-combination Airtrigger, dual forward Hi-Res DIRAC Snapdragon Sound speakers, HDR 10+, RGB, motion sensing, and a superb cooling system. There is a 12MP selfie, 50MP (IMX686) main, 13MP ultra-wide, and 5MP macro camera. A ROG personality window at the rear with a lightning logo raises some eyebrows.

The new sub-brand flagship phone specs series from Vivo offers high performance and unique designs. iQOO 10 Pro offers 200W fast charging but the iQOO 9T with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 12GB/256GB combination is the second highest performance phone.
It has LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 internal storage, 120W fast charging, a 4700mAh battery, and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. So, the users can charge from 0% to 50% in just 8 minutes. There is a 120Hz E5 AMOLED 2D flexible screen, 1500nits brightness, HDR 10+, 50MP OIS main, 13MP ultra-wide, and 12MP professional portrait camera. It starts at INR 43,999 (US$552.40), while the latest iQOO 10 Pro with 200W fast charging is available for US$829.

Recently released Nubia RedMagic 7S with a more powerful processor and better gaming phone features, still cannot keep up with the RedMagic 7 on the AnTuTu benchmark. This third most powerful Android phone runs on an 8 Gen 1 processor, not the 8+ Gen 1. However, it manages to reach the third position with 16GB RAM and 256GB ROM.
The RedMagic 7’s starting price is only US$627.25 for the 12GB/128GB variant. It has a 6.8-inch 165Hz refresh rate AMOLED, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, 4500mAh battery, 65W fast charging, DTS-X Ultra audio, and a 64MP AI Triple camera setup.

Although the most powerful Android phone has Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, the mid-range flagships mainly run on MediaTek processors, with a few having Dimensity 8100. The Vivo X80 got a spot in the top performing phones list with a Dimensity 9000 processor and a promising future SoC.

Surprisingly, the realme Neo GT series almost covers the sub-flagship top performer’s list on the AnTuTu benchmark scores. However, Samsung budget phones failed to be listed except for the Galaxy Z Fold4 running on 8+ Gen 1 chipset for flagship performance. It is because the budget phones have less performing processors. But the Poco X4 GT with Dimensity 8100 and 8GB/256GB model hits the second spot. Also, the Redmi K50i belongs to Xiaomi and is the third on the list. The world-famous realme GT Neo 3 leads with 800,000 points.
Mid-Range Phones Top Ten List
The Nothing Phone 1, with a unique design, 578467 AnTuTu score, and Snapdragon 778G+ processor, hit the top spot with iQOO Z5 and realme GT Master following behind. Although the Nothing Phone 1 is not the fastest phone in the world, it is increasing in popularity. iQOO Z5 offers better mid-range specs at an affordable price. But it has no NFC.
The Snapdragon 778G processor cannot run heavy games smoothly but offers adequate performance for daily Android users. Also, the rivalry between the mid-range smartphones is based on design and battery life. These are the average scores for the most powerful Android phone, sub-flagship, and mid-range phones for August 2022. More surprises are expected for future flagships in September’s upcoming top ten list.
